At least eight people have been killed after a bomb exploded in a central district of Damascus, according to Syrian state media.
The Sana news agency says the bomb detonated at the entrance to a building near the central Hijaz square. Dozens were also injured in the blast.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
Rebels fighting to topple President Bashar Assad have frequently targeted Damascus with bombs.
