BEIRUT - Lebanon's highest court yesterday jailed a Palestinian for life and jailed two others for 10 years, for killing a Jordanian diplomat, Naeb Maaytah, in Beirut last January. Four on the run were sentenced in their absence.
The Judiciary Council ruled that the murder was not a political assassination. It gave no explanation for initially sentencing four of the accused to death and three to life imprisonment, then reducing the sentences. Reuter
