Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organisation said yesterday they were moving towards a partial agreement on details of Israeli withdrawal and Palestinian self-rule in Gaza and Jericho in the West Bank, Reuter reports from Cairo.
After two long days of negotiations in Cairo between the PLO leader, Yasser Arafat, and the Israeli Foreign Minister, Shimon Peres, a PLO spokesman said they would initial an agreement on certain issues within two hours. But Mr Peres and the Egyptian mediators were more cautious, saying the negotiators first had more work to do.
