Georgia has sent troops to evacuate civilians from high mountain villages it says are under attack by separatist forces along the border of Abkhazia province, AP reports from Tbilisi. Reports of the move came as Georgian and Abkhazian delegations prepared for UN-mediated peace talks in Geneva today. The Georgian Foreign Ministry has accused the Abkhazians of 'a new wave of genocide and ethnic cleansing', which they deny. The Abkhazian mission in Moscow said many Georgians who had fled the civil war in Abkhazia were returning to their homes again.
