UK embassy in Sarajevo closed 'due to potential security incident'
Decision made 'following advice from local police'
The British Embassy in Sarajevo was temporarily closed on Wednesday “due to a potential security incident”.
Matt Field, the British ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, said the embassy had taken the decision to shut “following advice from the local police”.
He gave no further information about the nature of the security incident and did not say when the embassy would reopen.
“Following advice from the local police, the British Embassy in Sarajevo has been temporarily closed due to a potential security incident,” he said in a tweet.
Mr Field later tweeted to say the embassy was “now working as usual, following a brief closure today in response to a potential security threat”.
