Your support makes all the difference.The great-grandmother of a three-year-old British boy who died after falling into a swimming pool on Spain's Costa del Sol has paid tribute to him as a “lovely” child.
Shae Colford was pronounced dead on Sunday after reportedly being found floating in the water at his grandparents' home near Malaga.
The boy's parents, who are understood to live in Leicestershire, are still in Spain awaiting the release of their son's body.
The Foreign Office has confirmed it is supporting members of Shae's family, who are reported to have rushed him to hospital in a car at around 6pm.
The toddler's death came on what has been dubbed Spain's Black Sunday after two other people drowned in the sea.
Speaking from her home in Leicester, Shae's great-grandmother, Marjorie Colford, said she was told of Shae's death on Sunday but did not yet know the circumstances of the tragedy.
Mrs Colford, who is in her late 70s, said: "I don't know what happened but we are terribly upset, all the family is.
"Shae's mum and dad are still in Spain and they will be coming home as soon as the body is released.
"It's only just happened and we are just grieving at the moment.
"He was a lovely little boy, he was just lovely."
A Foreign Office spokesman said: "We are aware of the death of a British national in the Malaga region of Spain.
"We are providing consular assistance to the family at this sad time."
Shae is believed to have flown to Spain on Saturday with his parents to visit his grandparents, who live in the village of Cartama.
