Anna del Bono is accused of denying sex to her former husband, Vincenzo Altobelli, and "mistreatment within the family".
The mother-of-two told the MailOnline: "I have always taken care of the house and looked after the children.
"As far as I'm concerned I have done nothing to him. I am a peaceful woman."
Their two sons now live with their father while Ms del Bono lives with her new boyfriend, Tammaro Tavoletta, 20 miles from the family home.
Mr Atlobelli, 46, said: "The fact that she did not prepare lunch for our kids is only a small detail.
"She used to beat us repeatedly, she used to throw bowls of cold water over my head, lock the door to the marital bedroom and call me 'handicapped'."
"We no longer live together but I am still really afraid of my wife. She was evil, not because she didn't cook.
He said he went to the police due to exasperation.
Ms del Bono could face a prison sentence of two to six years if she is found guilty of "mistreatment within the family" under Article 572 of the Italian penal code.
Her trial is expected to take place in October.
