Slovenia: Drone captures mass refugee movement near Croatian border crossing

European leaders met on Sunday at an emergency summit in Brussels, in an attempt to agree on a plan to deal with the rising number of refugees making their way towards Germany and the Balkans.

The focus has turned to Slovenia after Croatia introduced border controls - following the example set by Hungary last month.

Drone footage above shows thousands of refugees moving towards the Slovenian border settlement of Rigonce, after crossing into the country from Croatia.

The border is a significant checkpoint on the journey towards south-east Europe.

A reported 11,500 refugees arrived in Croatia on Saturday alone with a further 60,000 refugees entering Slovenia in the last ten days.

Slovenian Prime Minister, Miro Cerar has warned European leaders that the European Union will “start falling apart” if a substantial plan is not in place within the next few weeks.
