A British woman is in a critical condition after being glassed in the neck in a nightclub in Magaluf.

The attack happened in the early hours of Monday morning and police have launched a full investigation.

The woman is believed to be around 22 years old and was struck in the neck with a glass in the club in the popular nightlife area of Punta Ballena.

When doctors arrived, the young woman had lost a lot of blood and was in a critical condition.

Medics managed to stop the bleeding and stabilise the young victim, who was transferred to the Intensive Care Unit of Hospital Son Espases.

A few hours later, official sources confirmed to Spanish newspaper Ultima Hora that her life was not in danger.

The attack took place around 1am in the Bananas de Magaluf nightclub and followed some sort of argument.

It is understood that police have arrested a 19-year-old suspect, reported to also be a British woman.
