An eight-party left-wing alliance led by former Communists struck a deal yesterday to fight next month's general elections under the same banner, Reuter reports.
The formation of the 'Progressives' signals a reconciliation between the Democratic Party of the Left, or former Communists, and the hardline Communist Refoundation. Also included are the revamped Socialists and two offshoots plus the Greens, the centre-left Democratic Alliance and the anti-Mafia Rete (Network) party.
