The teenage daughter of a British millionaire has been found dead in a swimming pool following a night out with friends in Majorca.

Josie Clacher was discovered at the bottom of the pool around 7am on Tuesday after neighbours raised the alarm and emergency services rushed to the scene.

The 18-year-old was staying at a villa in the town of Alaro with friends and family, including her mother Rachel Clacher, the co-founder of telephone answering company Moneypenny, which is reported to be worth around £100 million.

Paramedics attempted to revive Ms Clacher, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

It was reported she had returned to the villa after a night out shortly before she was discovered.

Her mother, who was awarded a CBE earlier this year, also established in 2014 the Moneypenny Foundation, now known as WeMindTheGap, which offers paid traineeships to unemployed and disadvantaged young women.

A Moneypenny spokesperson said: "We are all extremely devastated by this tragic news and our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this tragic time."

An investigation has been launched and a post-mortem is due to take place.
