Poland's last Communist leader General Wojciech Jaruzelski cannot attend his two ongoing trials due to ill health, putting the future of the proceedings in doubt, Warsaw Provincial Court said.
The 87-year-old is on trial over his decision to impose martial law in Poland in 1981, during protests by the Solidarity movement. Court-appointed doctors said General Jaruzelski, who suffers from cancer, is too ill to attend court sessions for at least the next 12 months.
