Tirana - One of five ethnic Greeks standing trial in Albania on charges of espionage and illegal possession of arms retracted his confession, saying it had been extracted under pressure. Vangjel Papakristo, 51, said police had threatened to refuse him medical care, to beat him with rubber clubs and to keep him in handcuffs if he did not answer their questions. 'I was forced to become a robot . . . I retract everything,' he said. Reuter
