From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Your support makes all the difference.

Intrepid divers will hurl themselves off a 27m tall “skerry” in Kragero, Norway tomorrow for the third event in the 2010 Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series.

Twenty-five-year-old Gary Hunt from Southampton is currently leading the series, which takes place in six parts and all over the world. His victory in Yucatan, Mexico last month followed an earlier triumph in La Rochelle, France in May.

12 competitors will dive off steep “skerries”, derived from the Old Norse word “sker” meaning “a rock in the sea”. Norway, which has 25,148 kilometres of coastline, is a perfect venue for the midway stage of the competition.

Ahead of tomorrow's event, the current scores stand at:

1. Gary Hunt, GBR, 40 points

2. Orlando Duque, COL, 29 points

3. Artem Silchenko, RUS, 27 points

4. Kent De Mond, USA, 22 points

5. Steve Black, AUS, 15 points

6. Eber Pava, COL, 14 points

7. Hassan Mouti, FRA, 12 points

8. Cyrille Oumedjkane, FRA, 10 points

9. Slava Polyeshchuk, UKR, 8 points

10. Michal Navratil, CZE, 7 points

10. Alain Kohl, LUX, 7 points

12. Andrey Ignatenko, UKR, 3 points

The Independent Online will be updating this as the competition unfolds over the weekend and will add video footage of the dives as soon as it becomes available. So watch this space!
