BONN (AP) - The German government said it wanted Mikhail Gorbachev to attend a state funeral for Willy Brandt and would probably ask the Russian government to restore his right to travel.
Russia's Constitutional Court banned him from leaving the country after he refused to testify at a trial on the fate of the Communist Party. A government spokesman said 'it was possible' that the Chancellor, Helmut Kohl, would ask the Russian President, Boris Yeltsin, to clear the way for Mr Gorbachev to attend Brandt's funeral on Saturday.
