From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Newspaper El Pais said police sources had confirmed that they believe the driver is now dead.
18-year-old Moussa Oukabir was earlier named as one of the suspects in connection with the attack after his older brother, 28-year-old Driss Oukabir, claimed his sibling had stolen his identification documents and used them to hire the van used in the massacre.
Driss had handed himself in to police in the town of Ripoll, around 65 miles north of Barcelona, after seeing media reports that his ID card had been found in the van.
Police have not confirmed the identity of any of the perpetrators and said they were still working to identify them.
"We continue to work to identify the driver of the van that yesterday attacked Barcelona. Thank you for your cooperation", police said in a tweet.
Five attackers were shot dead by police in Cambrils as they carried out a second attack, using a Audi A3 to ram people in Cambrils in the early hours of Friday morning, killing one woman and injuring several people.
Four of the five terrorists, who were wearing suicide vests that later turned out to be fakes, were shot by the same police officer.
