Seventeen people were killed and two others injured when a small bus carrying workers collided with a truck in central Poland today.
Polish media said it was one of the worst road accidents in the country's history.
A spokeswoman for the regional police, Magdalena Siczek-Zalewska, said the crash happened on a local road near Nowe Miasto, some 50 miles (80km) south of Warsaw.
She said all the fatalities were in the Volkswagen bus, which was apparently carrying seasonal workers to work in an orchard in one of Poland's best-known apple and plum plantation regions.
