Prague - The Czech Republic yesterday signalled its intention to join the ever-lengthening queue of would-be members of the European Union by lodging a formal application to join in January, writes Adrian Bridge. Vaclav Klaus, the Czech Prime Minister, said that he planned to present his country's application during a visit to Rome shortly after Italy takes over the EU presidency at the beginning of the year.
