Peking - China has banned the use of 1997 as a trademark, and has cancelled already registered 1997 trademarks for tobacco and alcohol. "We cannot accept using [these] four numbers, as it is the year of the return of Hong Kong," said an official of the State Industrial and Commercial Bureau. Reuter
