In CCTV footage seen by police, the man can be seen threatening a female shop attendant with a knife at a Sunshine Coast service station, Caboolture.
The staff member complied with his demands and handed over some cash and cigarettes.
During the robbery, the man tried to hide his identity by wearing a blue shopping bag on his head.
However, he removed the bag before leaving the shop as he used it to carry the stolen items.
Police say no one was injured in the incident.
The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, about 165-170cm in height, with short dark hair and blue eyes.
Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
