A man who was caught on camera slapping a woman has been charged with sexual assault after handing himself in to police.

The 40-year-old man reportedly followed home the woman who had been out for a walk in Southport on Australia’s Gold Coast, and then allegedly sexually assaulted her on her doorstep.

Speaking to Australia’s news.com.au, the woman, who is a mother of two, said: “I was just coming back from my morning walk when I noticed this man approaching me. I just brushed it off because he was looking a bit lost.”

She said she was wearing headphones at the time and it took her a little while to notice what was happening.

“I could see his reflection walking quite fast up to me and it gave me a bit of a fright to be honest,” she said.

In the video the man is seen walking quickly behind her as she lets herself into her building, and then slaps her on the backside five times.

When the 24-year-old woman expressed shock, she said her attacker replied “something like, ‘Sorry I just had to, you have the best arse.’”

The woman reportedly told the man “don’t f***ing touch me”.

She said: “I was really upset, by the time I was telling my partner I was crying and screaming. It had really hit me and I’d realised what happened.”

The woman has said she now plans to move away from the area.

The man has been charged with two counts of sexual assault, according to Australia’s 9 News, and will appear in court on 6 February.
