An audacious robbery by a group of masked robbers saw thieves drive a car through the front window of a Canberra shopping centre before ram-raiding and stealing from a jewellery store inside.

The incident which was caught on the building’s CCTV, shows the Subaru Impreza smash through the front windows of Kippax Fair shopping centre in north Canberra in the early hours of Monday morning.

The vehicle was found by police a few hours later abandoned in a Canberra suburb.

The authorities have released the video in an appeal for information from the public.

It is the third time that Exquisite Jewellers has been robbed in the past year. The shop experienced similar break-ins in April and November 2014.

Police are also investigating a potential link between the break-in on Monday night with a similar raid involving a Subaru that occurred 24 hours later.

On Tuesday morning, another jewellery shop in the Gungahlin Village shopping centre to the north of Canberra.

Again, a car was used to smash through the shop’s front and the shop’s CCTV captured two hooded robbers leaving the vehicle and looting the store.
