A powerful bomb exploded in the outskirts of the Pakistani capital Islamabad today, wounding at least six people, police said.

No one took responsibility for the explosion in Islamabad's Pindora neighbourhood.

Two of the victims were in serious condition, doctors said.

In recent months dozens of bomb explosions have rocked major cities throughout Pakistan, causing scores of casualties. Pakistan routinely blames neighboring India for the blasts.

India, in turn, accuses Pakistan of fomenting violence in the Himalayan state of Jammu-Kashmir, where pro-Pakistan militants are fighting to end Indian rule.

Both countries deny the charges.
