The 36-year-old rape survivor and her husband, 40, were critically injured and hospitalised while the accused are still on the run, The Times of India reports.
Along with three other accomplices, the attacker - Tinku Anwar - first stabbed the husband in a marketplace several times, severely wounded him.
Afterwards they went to his house which was less than a mile away from the spot and attacked his wife, leaving her with serious injuries.
Speaking to the newspaper, senior house officer for Kaithunipole hospital, Pawan Kumar Meena, said: "The two are undergoing treatment at the MBS Hospital.
"At least four persons attacked the 40-year-old man with knives many times.
"They later went to his home and attacked his wife. The couple received head and stomach injuries even as the accused managed to flee."
The other attackers are Sikku, Shahrukh and Abra and are all from Kota.
They can be seen in videos of the incident attacking the couple with knives.
All of the suspects have been booked under Section 307 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for the attempt to murder.
Police records reveal that the woman had accused Anwar of raping and blackmailing her in September this year, Times Now News reports.
Anwar was then arrested in October and jailed, but was released on bail only four days ago.
Anwar allegedly raped the woman and filmed it in 2017. The victim finally lodged a complaint after two years of constant threats from the accused, the newspaper reports.
According to a report by The Times of India this year, out of 30,000 reported rape cases in the country, only one in four have resulted in convictions.
What's more, the paper claims nearly 30 per cent of legislators have a criminal background - totally 1,581 - and 51 one of those have convictions against women
