Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Sharon Duval, 42, is believed to have been on her honeymoon with husband Nick Duval when the tragedy occurred.
The couple, who run The Highwayman pub in Kidlington, Oxfordshire, had married last year.
A Maldives Police Service spokesman said that her body was found on a beach at 12.30am on Saturday.
He said: "A body of a 42-year-old British woman has been found on the west beach of LH. Kuredhu Resort.
"This woman was in the resort on a vacation.
"The Serious and Organised Crime Department of Maldives Police Service is investigating this death."
Mrs Duval's parents John Stockford, 77, and wife Pauline, 69, said they were told of their daughter's death on Saturday morning by her first husband Andrew Boyes.
Mum-of-two Mrs Stockford told the Oxford Mail: "He said he had some bad news and then he told us that Sharon's body had been washed up on the beach and nobody knew what had caused it.
"We don't know if Sharon died because of some sort of crime or an accident and we will wait to hear the results of the post mortem."
A Foreign and Commonwealth Office spokeswoman said: "We are aware of reports of the death of a British national in the Maldives and are urgently investigating.
"We stand ready to provide consular assistance."
