The Pakistan Taliban has declared a ceasefire to encourage peace talks with the government, it claimed yesterday.
A senior commander said the ceasefire has been in effect for the past month throughout the country. "We are not attacking the Pakistan army and government installations because of the peace process," he added.
The government has not officially commented, and the Pakistani army yesterday denied it was involved in any talks.
