Video has emerged of the moment an entire house was swallowed by the sea in Bangladesh.

In the footage a one-story building can be seen teetering on the verge of the sea, before the ground beneath appears to sink below the surface, taking the house along with it.

John Wodden who posted the video to YouTube commented that police "roped off the area to keep people away. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident, which could have been extremely disastrous."

He said that authorities were still looking into what the cause of the incident might have been.

A recent 30-year study found that Bangladesh's sea-level has risen by between 6 to 20mm per year in three of its coastal regions.
