The body of a teenager was found by her parents hanging from a tree after she was gang-raped by three men.
The 16-year-old was kidnapped on her way home from school in the village of Yeturu, in Andhra Pradesh state, India.
She was dragged into a rickshaw by three men and then gang-raped in an open field on the outskirts of the village, the Indian Express reports.
It is unclear how she came to be hanging from the tree.
Police spokesman Sathya Kishore said the suspects came from the neighbouring village of Vibharinthalapadu.
Although police have identified the accused men, he added, no arrests have been made so far.
A spate of recent attacks in India has renewed public anger over the country's inability to combat violence against women and girls.
In March, a 28-year-old woman was raped on a bus in Utter Pradesh by two men, while her daughter hid in the corner.
Many drew parellels with the rape of Jyoti Singh, the 23-year-old medical student who died of her injuries after a gang-rape on a bus in Delhi.
