Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Singapore Airlines is considering providing shower facilities for passengers aboard its planes, an airline spokesman said.
In-flight showers are "just one of the many things we're looking at," said Derrick Chiang, a spokesman for the national carrier. "We're always looking at things like that."
The airline, which promotes a luxury image, installed bed-like sleeper seats in its first-class cabins two years ago.
"Technology makes these things possible," Chiang said. "Pretty soon we're going to do e-mail on board."
The airline would start trials for the e-mail service at the end of the year, Chiang said.
Singapore Airlines' currently offers shower facilities in its fist-class and business-class airport transit lounges. The service has been a big hit with passengers, Chiang said.
Seattle-based AquaJet Appliance Company unveiled a water supply system for in-flight showers at the recent Farnborough air show in Britain, Singapore's Straits Times newspaper reported Tuesday.
Singapore Airlines and Britain's Virgin Atlantic Airways were among carriers that have shown an interest in the system, the newspaper said.
