From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference. It was 2008 the first time a beagle was named Best in Show at the Westminster Dog Show, but seven years later the grandniece of that winner was given top honours at the 139th edition of the popular canine competition.
Miss P, a beagle whose full name is “Ch Tashtins Looking for Trouble”, beat out dogs from six categories to take the top prize in this year’s show, CNN reported.
To claim the crown, Miss P was up against prestigious competition. She beat out Matisse, a Portuguese water dog who is cousin to the First Dog of the US, President Barack Obama’s dog Sonny. Miss P also outclassed Rocket, a shih tzu co-owned by Patty Hurst, pardoned bank robber turned philanthropist.
Miss P is owned by Eddie Dzuik and Lori and Kaitlyn Crandlemire, and this was the dog’s second time at Westminster. Her owners reportedly will retire her after Tuesday’s win.
