This election is still a dead heat, according to most polls. In a fight with such wafer-thin margins, we need reporters on the ground talking to the people Trump and Harris are courting. Your support allows us to keep sending journalists to the story.
The Independent is trusted by 27 million Americans from across the entire political spectrum every month. Unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock you out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. But quality journalism must still be paid for.
Help us keep bring these critical stories to light. Your support makes all the difference.
They say that life is a rat race and for one rodent in San Francisco this really was the case.
The unfortunate creature was filmed trying to descend an escalator in the Civic Center Bart station on the San Francisco subway system.
The rat was caught on camera by Jonathan Beilin who uploaded the video to YouTube. The hapless rodent makes its way down the escalator but then fails to get off the last step and continues to struggle.
This is not the first time the station's escalators have received attention, only last year it was reported by the SF Gate that workers discovered a high volume of human excrement jamming up the gears and stopping the escalators from working.
Perhaps if the gears were still stuck, this rat would have been able to make it down the escalator without any trouble. It really is a hard life for a rat.
