A video has emerged of the amazing moment a mystery philanthropist bought a New York flower seller’s entire stock – only to tell her to give every single rose away.

In the footage, seemingly captured on a phone, the well-dressed man approaches the woman on a busy New York subway carriage where she is attempting to sell 140 roses for a $1 each.

After listening to her, the unidentified man responds: “I’ll give you $140 for the whole thing.”

“Are you serious?” She asks nervously as the man unfolds the bills and hands them over.

“But you have to do me a favour,” he tells her. “You’ve got to give them out. Now you can spend the day doing something nice.”

Suddenly realising he is serious, the flower seller bursts into tears as he tells her: “Don’t be like that, it’s a happy day.”

The mysterious man wishes the emotional flower seller a happy day before vanishing into the crowd.

The footage, captured on New York’s subway system in 2013, recently made it onto Reddit and has now been viewed almost four million times on YouTube.
