Your support helps us to tell the story
My recent work focusing on Latino voters in Arizona has shown me how crucial independent journalism is in giving voice to underrepresented communities.
Your support is what allows us to tell these stories, bringing attention to the issues that are often overlooked. Without your contributions, these voices might not be heard.
Every dollar you give helps us continue to shine a light on these critical issues in the run up to the election and beyond

Amy Coney Barrett, President Donald Trump’s third nomination to the Supreme Court, is on Capitol Hill for another day of senate confirmation hearings amid a backdrop of outcry from Democrats over Republican-led efforts to replace the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg during an election season in which 10 million Americans have already voted.
The federal judge faced tough questions from Democratic senators and declined to reveal whether she would support overturning key rulings on the Affordable Care Act and Roe v Wade, which, respectively, provides insurance protections for millions and ensures access to women’s reproductive health care options nationwide.
Former Vice President Joe Biden has also addressed questions from the president and his allies about so-called “court-packing” efforts, saying he was “not a fan” of adding seats to the nation’s top court in an interview on Monday. Meanwhile, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s leading epidemiologist, has warned the Trump campaign against a blitz of in-person events its planning across the country, telling CNN about the rise of new Covid-19 cases: “The data speaks for itself.”

BREAKING: Virginia election - Severed cable shuts down online voter registration on final day
A severed cable shut down Virginia’s online voter registration system on its final day of operation before the election. Officials say that a “fiber cut” was preventing multiple agencies from connecting to the system, according to the the Virginia Department of Elections.
These included the citizen portal and registrar’s offices and officials say it is unclear when it will be back up and running again.
"Due to a network outage, the Citizen Portal is temporarily unavailable. We are working with our network providers to restore service as quickly as possible," the department posted on their registration website.

Nevada man first in US to contract coronavirus twice
An unidentified 25-year-old was confirmed as the first person in the US to have contracted coronavirus twice.
The timing of this news is relevant, coming just days after Donald Trump tweeted he is “immune” from coronavirus.
“A total and complete sign off from White House Doctors yesterday. That means I can’t get it (immune), and can’t give it. Very nice to know!!!” Trump said.
Twitter flagged/blocked that tweet behind a “misleading and potentially harmful information” warning.
According to the Lancet infectious Diseases journal, the Nevada man said to have contracted Covid-19 twice, has no known immune disorders or underlying conditions. He reportedly first tested positive in April and suffered from mild symptoms of a sore throat, headache, nausea and diarrhoea.
He tested positive again in June and was hospitalised with more severe symptoms.
The Independent’s James Crump has more on the development.
