Donald Trump Jr has been deposed by the Washington DC attorney general as part of a lawsuit alleging the misuse of Trump inaugural funds.

The ex-president’s son was deposed by DC attorney general Karl Racine’s office on 11 February, according to a new court filing.

The deposition “raised further questions about the nature” of a hotel invoice that is being probed by the attorney general, the filing states.

The attorney general claims that the Trump Organization signed a $49,358.92 deal with Loews Madison hotel for a block booking of rooms for the former president’s inauguration in 2017.

His office says that an invoice was later sent to the Presidential Inaugural Committee, which paid it, according to the court filing.

Mr Racine’s office have asked the court for additional time to obtain discovery materials and do additional depositions.

The filing states that they have dealt with “repeated obstacles, including misleading testimony, a closed hotel and new information revealed after the deadline for issuing discovery requests passed on 8 February”.

The DC attorney general’s office deposed Ivanka Trump in December, as well as Rick Gates, who was the deputy chair of the Presidential Inaugural Committee.

Mr Racine’s office filed a lawsuit against the Trump Organization and Presidential Inaugural Committee in January 2020 alleging that they had abused more than $1 million raised by the non-profit by “grossly overpaying” for event space at the Trump hotel in Washington DC for the inauguration.
