Your support helps us to tell the story
From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Vice President Kamala Harris and Former President Donald Trump are making their final pitches to voters on Monday, the last full day of campaigning before Election Day.
The vice president was joined by celebrities Lady Gaga, Oprah Winfrey, Ricky Martin, and The Roots in Philadelphia this evening as Katy Perry and Christina Aguilera supported her in Pittsburgh and Las Vegas.
Trump also concentrated on the Keystone State, delivering his “closing message” at a rally in Pittsburgh before one final rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan — where he closed out both his 2016 and 2020 campaigns.
In Pittsburgh, Trump brought his family out, announced he had been endorsed by podcaster Joe Rogan, and was joined on stage by Megyn Kelly. Because he spoke for approximately two hours, his supporters at his final rally in Michigan waited past midnight for his arrival.
Also at midnight, the first in-person votes were cast in Dixville Notch, New Hampshire — a tradition going back almost 65 years. There are just six registered voters in the town who split evenly between the two candidates.

1. The town hall opened with Elon saying he would take questions.
2. Four questions in a row, they were unable to connect the questioner with Elon. Dead air.
3. Elon says he would do a X Spaces instead of the town hall because of the technical issues.
4. Elon scratches that plan and tells everyone who wanted to talk to him to … just listen to his Rogan podcast instead.
Former leader of Britain’s Conservative Party denounces Trump
William Hague, the former leader of Britain’s Conservative Party, foreign secretary and protégé of Margaret Thatcher has denounced Donald Trump, saying “we should all be Democrats”.
He wrote in The Times:
It matters what we think about the election in America — to our own political ideas and to the security of our allies. We knew Reagan wasn’t following the details, but we also knew he was generous to opponents and steadfast for freedom. In words also applied to Franklin D Roosevelt, he was a “second-class intellect with a first-class temperament”. That would never be a description of Trump. He is a serious danger. If Reagan stood for “morning in America”, Trump is the approach of midnight. Whatever our past affiliations, we should all be Democrats.
Quite the contrast between the Trump and Harries rallies
Vice President Kamala Harris gave an energetic 10-minute speech to the crowd gathered to see her in Pittsburgh this evening, before heading for her final rally in Philadelphia later tonight.
Donald Trump has been speaking for more than 90 minutes.

A weekend of campaigning across swing states such as Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Georgia was overshadowed on Saturday by the political equivalent of a bomb going off. J. Following his interview with Elon Musk today, Joe Rogan has endorsed Donald Trump.
He wrote on X: “The great and powerful Elon Musk. If it wasn't for him we'd be fucked. He makes what I think is the most compelling case for Trump you'll hear, and I agree with him every step of the way.
“For the record, yes, that's an endorsement of Trump.”
