From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.
The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. The amorous display took place after Mr Trump made a speech in which he lambasted illegal immigration.
The Us president said America had ‘no border security’ and accused Mexico of failing to stop migrants from reaching the border.
Referring to family separations at the US border, Mr Trump blamed the Democrats, saying legal loopholes are encouraging families to bring children with them.
The splitting up of families gained attention this week, after audio emerged of children screaming for their parents.
‘When you prosecute the parents for coming in illegally- which should happen- you have to take the children away,’ said Mr Trump.
The president was applauded throughout his speech, which was made at the National Federation of Independent Business.
Before leaving the stage, he made his way to a nearby American flag and proceeded to embrace it, as the crowd clapped and took photos.
