Donald Trump reportedly shared nude photos and hit on his accountant's family members while they sat shiva for the man's mother.

The incident was documented in a piece recently published by The New Yorker.

According to the magazine, the sordid shiva story was revealed during the course of the Manhattan District Attorney's efforts to flip Mr Trump's accountant, Allen Weisselberg, for use in their investigation of the Trump Organization.

Mr Weisselberg's former daughter-in-law was debriefed by the Manhattan district attorney's office, and spoke with The New Yorker about Mr Weisselberg.

She described the accountant as being "obsessed" with earning Mr Trump's favour.

"His whole worth is, 'Does Donald like me today?'" Mr Weisselberg said. "It's his whole life, his core being. He's obsessed. He has more feelings and adoration for Donald than for his wife."

According to Ms Weisselberg, Mr Trump and the accountant have worked together since the 1970s. She said if anyone had compromising information on Mr Trump, it would be her former father-in-law.

"You walk down the hall, it's Allen-Donald, Allen-Donald – they don't do anything separately," she said. "Allen would know everything."

Ms Weisselberg said she met Mr Trump for the first time at Mr Weisselberg's house in Long Island while the family sat shiva for the accountant's mother.

Sitting shiva is a seven-day act of mourning that Jewish people observe following the death of a loved one. It is generally regarded as a sombre, spiritual custom.

According to Ms Weisselberg, Mr Trump immediately began insulting the family upon arrival.

"This is where my CFO lives?" Mr Trump asked, referencing Mr Weisselberg's house, which presumably does not contain a golden toilet. "It's embarrassing!"

Mr Trump reportedly took a limo to the religious observation.

After entering, Mr Trump reportedly showed off photos of himself on a yacht surrounded by nude women to attendees of the funerary rite.

Then, Ms Weisselberg said Mr Trump made a pass at her.

"After that, he starts hitting on me," she told the magazine.

According to Ms Weisselberg's account, Mr Weisselberg gave Mr Trump no pushback, even though she was dating his son.

That incident, among others, is why Ms Weisselman ultimately thinks her former father-in-law will, not be swayed to turn on the former president.

"I don't know," she said. "For Donald, it's a business. But for Allen it's a love affair."

The Independent requested a comment from Mr Trump but did not immediately receive a response.
