Mum urges daughter to turn herself in 'after failing to pay for manicure then killing nail salon owner'
The mother also apologised to the victim's family
The mother of a 21-year-old wanted for allegedly running over and killing a Las Vegas nail salon owner who chased her for refusing to pay a $35 manicure is pleading her daughter to turn herself in to the police.
“You can’t run baby,” Sharon Whipple said on ABC News, addressing her daughter. “You cannot run. You have to come forward, baby.”
The Las Vegas Police Department are on a manhunt to look for Krystal Whipple after she allegedly killed Ngoc Q Nguyen, a 51-year-old nail salon owner and the mother of three children.
Ms Whipple allegedly tried to pay for her $35 manicure with a fraudulent credit card, and then told Ms Nguyen that she was going to her car to get cash, but instead hopped in her stolen vehicle and began to drive away, the authorities said.
The storefront security footage show the moment when Ms Nguyen chased after Ms Whipple, jumping in front of a black convertible sedan before Ms Whipple allegedly ran her over. The footage shows Ms Nguyen being dragged beneath the car as it speeds away.
The authorities said the car Ms Whipple allegedly used was stolen from a rental agency in December. It was later found abandoned near an apartment complex.
The police released a 2018 jailhouse photo of Ms Whipple on Thursday to ask the public for help in finding her.
Ms Whipple’s mother apologised to Ms Nguyen’s family while being interviewed on ABC News.
“I am so sorry that you lost your mom and I couldn’t imagine how you feel,” she said. “And I hope that you find it in your heart to forgive my daughter and my family.”
