From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it's investigating the financials of Elon Musk's pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, 'The A Word', which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.
At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Speaking to TMJ4, Mr Biden said that he thinks Donald Trump’s daily coronavirus briefings would be better if Dr Fauci, the chief infectious disease expert leading the US response to the pandemic, was the only one who spoke.
“We’d all be better off if the only person we heard from from the White House was Dr Fauci,” said Mr Biden.
Ms Trump tweeted in response to Mr Biden’s comments and asked why the former vice president doesn’t think Dr Deborah Birx is suitable to brief the public on the crisis.
“Dr Birx is an Army Colonel and a subject matter expert who has dedicated her life to fighting infectious diseases,” she tweeted.
“Why shouldn’t she also be able to speak,” Ms Trump added.
Dr Birx took to the stage during Tuesday’s coronavirus briefing and urged people to continue practising social distancing, as some states start to slowly reopen later this week.
“Individuals need to continue all their hygiene pieces, ensuring social distancing, washing hands, not touching their face and making sure they’re not brining the virus home,” she said.
In his interview with the outlet, Mr Biden also criticised the length of Mr Trump’s coronavirus briefings, and said they should not happen daily.
Mr Biden said that the administration needs to “follow the science,” and added that “we’re taking too much time.”
According to a tracking project hosted by Johns Hopkins University, in the US there are more than of 826,248 people who have tested positive for coronavirus. The death toll has reached at least 45,153.
