Donald Trump apparently wants an airport named after him

He has also apparently considered a USS Donald Trump

Donald Trump rose to international notoriety by bolting his name to huge structures, and it appears his aspirations will not be changing after he leaves the White House.  

Two of the president's aides reportedly told The Daily Beast that Mr Trump is exploring how to get his name on an airport.  

He was apparently wanted to ensure that whichever airport bears his name did not have a previously bad reputation and was not in disrepair.  

"Trump's focus on airport namings suggests that his mind has begun to wonder towards the ceremonial elements that accompany life after the presidency," the Daily Beast report claims. "It also shows that his infatuation with having pieces of infrastructure emblazoned with his name hasn't faded at all with his time occupying the single most powerful position in the world."

Apparently Mr Trump wants the airport to be a "national or international airport in the the US named after Donald J Trump" in the same vein as Reagan National Airport in Washington, DC.  

The report also suggests Mr Trump would be thrilled to have his name attached to something a little less stationary, but still an airport of sorts – his aides have apparently heard him wondering aloud about what kind of aircraft carrier he would commission to name after himself.  

Mr Trump's apparently hopes that his loyalists in state and federal governments will help him plaster his name onto things after he leaves office.  

This is not the first time Mr Trump has wondered about how his devotees will immortalise him after he leaves office.  

South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem said earlier this year that Mr Trump asked her how he could add his face to Mt Rushmore.  

"He said, 'Kristi, come on over here. Shake my hand,'" she told the Sioux Falls Argus-Leader. "I shook his hand, and I said, 'Mr. President, you should come to South Dakota sometime. We have Mount Rushmore.' And he goes, 'Do you know it's my dream to have my face on Mount Rushmore?'. "I started laughing. He wasn't laughing, so he was totally serious."

Mr Trump's daughter, Ivanka, even shared a photo to social media that made it look like her father's head was included in the monument.  

Mr Trump has denied any interest in adding his head to the monument, but said he would back the idea.  

"This is Fake News by the failing @nytimes & bad ratings @CNN. Never suggested it although, based on all of the many things accomplished during the first 3 1/2 years, perhaps more than any other Presidency, sounds like a good idea to me." he said, responding to a New York Times report from the time.
