At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Speaking on the White House lawn, the president said: "I have not read the Mueller report. I won. No collusion, no obstruction, I won. Everybody knows I won."
"As far as I'm concerned, I don't care about the Mueller report," he continued. "I've been totally exonerated."
The president's comments arrived as William Barr, his appointed attorney general, was grilled by lawmakers over his handling of the report after the special counsel concluded its investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election. Mr Barr released a nearly four-page letter claiming Mr Trump was effectively cleared of criminal misconduct just days after Mr Mueller announced the conclusion of his probe. But it remains unclear whether the special counsel found evidence for obstruction of justice, or to what extent Mr Mueller may have found the president's campaign to be in coordination with Russian operatives during the election.
Democrats have been pressing for a full copy of the report without redactions, in order to fulfil their Congressional oversight duties, with House chairmen threatening to issue subpoenas if the attorney general produces a heavily-redacted version of the special counsel's findings.
Mr Trump also addressed his tax returns from the White House lawn on Wednesday, repeating a years-long claim that he is under audit and could not release his financial records due to the counsel of attorneys.
“Frankly, people don’t care,” he said, adding that he would “love” to release his returns but that he could not while under audit.
The president then claimed to have “no obligation” to release his returns while under audit.
The president has been ramping up his attacks against the Democrats in the wake of Mr Barr’s letter, writing in a tweet on Monday, “The Democrats will never be satisfied, no matter what they get, how much they get, or how many pages they get.”
He also condemned “Bob Mueller’s team of 13 Trump Haters & Angry Democrats” in a tweet two days earlier.
