A man has been charged with murder over the “execution-style” shooting of a nine-year-old boy – allegedly the victim of a Chicago gang feud.
Reports said that Corey Morgan, 27, had been charged with first degree murder of the death of Tyshawn Lee, who was apparently lured into an alley and shot dead earlier this month. He suffered multiple injuries and police called it an “abhorrent, unfathomable cowardly crime”.
Police believe the youngster was killed as part of the fall-out from a gang-war that is raging in parts of the city. Detectives said they believed the nine-year-old was killed because of the alleged gang links of his family members. His family has denied this.
CBS claimed that Mr Morgan had been repeatedly questioned abut the shooting of the boy, who was found in an alley near his grandmother’s home on November 2.
