At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

Your support makes all the difference.A man who suspended himself from the top of Trump Tower in Chicago demanding to meet President Trump has been brought down and arrested by the police after 13 hours.
Chicago Police spokesman Tom Ahern tweeted confirming the arrest on Monday: “Situation resolved peacefully by negotiators, suspect in custody. No injuries.”
The man, who is said to be in his twenties, used a harness to climb up the 16-floor building and was first spotted at around 5.30pm local time on Sunday. He stayed dangling throughout the evening, threatening to let go if he didn’t get to meet Mr Trump.
US media described the man as a Black Lives Matter demonstrator. “I am protesting,” the man was quoted as saying.
The man didn’t specify any other demands, or a reason why he wants to meet the president.
The roads near the tower, that overlooks the Chicago River were blocked for several hours on Sunday evening while the attempts to bring the man safety down were on.
The police tried negotiating with the man from the balcony, while he was dangling off the building. After hours of attempts, they finally managed to convince him to come down on Monday morning.
