A speeding vehicle has jumped the curb in New York's Times Square, killing at least one and injuring as many as 13 people.
It was not immediately clear whether the incident was an accident or intentional. Some buildings in the heavily trafficked area in Midtown Manhattan were put on lock down.
The New York City Police Department closed off the area. A video taken by a witness showed a dark red car smoking with police and bystanders nearby. A fireman, in the video, runs up with a hose to spray down the car engine.
