At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.
Your support makes all the difference.Golf legend Tiger Woods returned home from hospital on Wednesday after suffering severe leg injuries in a major car crash last month.
Woods finally returned to Florida after the accident in Los Angeles on 23 February, two days after the Genesis Invitational tournament at Riviera.
In a statement posted on his social media, golf’s biggest star informed his fans about his return home and thanked the medical staff for his treatment over the past few weeks.
“Happy to report that I am back home and continuing my recovery. I am so grateful for the outpouring of support and encouragement that I have received over the past few weeks.
"Thank you to the incredible surgeons, doctors, nurses and staff at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. You have all taken such great care of me and I cannot thank you enough," he wrote.
Woods was driving to a television shoot for GolfTV on 23 February, a little after 7am, when his SUV crashed into a median, rolled over several times and ended up on its side near a steep road known for being accident prone, authorities said. The 45-year-old had to be pulled out through the windshield.

The 82-time PGA Tour winner sustained career-threatening leg injuries in the one-car crash, sustaining a fractured right leg and shattered ankle. He underwent hours of surgery including getting a rod inserted in his leg.
The crash made headlines around the world and many sports stars and other prominent figures wished Woods a speedy recovery, former presidents Donald Trump and Barack Obama among those who offered support.
Around a dozen players wore black trousers and red shirts — the Sunday colours preferred by Woods on the PGA Tour — in the final round at the Workday Championship in Florida. “To every golfer and every fan, you are truly helping me get through this tough time,” Woods earlier wrote in response to the gesture.
