Police arrest 14-year-old boy caught on video entering family home and standing over sleeping girl
'Somebody was sitting over watching me that I didn't know' girl says
Whichita police have arrested a 14-year-old boy who allegedly entered a family home and stood over a teenage girl while she slept, according to a report.
The teenager, who has not been identified, faces charges of aggravated burglary and theft, Officer Charley Davidson told ABC affiliate KAKE.
Officers responded to a report of a burglary on Friday at around 2.40am, according to the report, but by the time they arrived the suspect had gone.
Police later received a tip that led to the teenager’s arrest.
Security footage from the inside the house appears to show the teenager walking through the house and standing over the teenage girl who lived there as she slept.
“It just scared me because of the fact that somebody was sitting over watching me that I didn't know,” the 15-year-old girl involved told KAKE. “It's just scary.”
“She came in and she was screaming and yelling saying, 'Mom, somebody is in the house,'” the girl's mother said to the broadcaster.
According to police, the teenager allegedly entered the home through an unlocked door and stole a tool.
“He didn't take anything and I think that's scarier,” said the mother. “Because what did you want? I don't know what you want, are you going to come back?”
The girl's mother and two-year-old sister were both at home at the time of the incident during which no-one was hurt.
