At a whopping cost of $54.75 (£32.78), the Starbucks beverage is the most expensive ever created by the coffee titan – but the customer who ordered the unusual creation in Dallas, Texas, got it all for free.
Andrew, who is a Gold member of the Starbucks loyalty programme, decided to take advantage of an offer that entitles him to one free drink for every 12 that he buys.
But not content with a mere latte or Frappuccino, he instead opted for a 128-ounce, 60-shot drink that would daunt even the most devout coffee fans, Consumerist reported.
And its hefty price tag beats the previous world record holder – the $47.30 (£28.32) , 52-ounce, 48-shot Quadriginoctuple Frap.
The key to Andrew’s success in winning the title lay in the co-operation of the baristas. Andrew told staff that he wanted to order the most expensive drink Starbucks could make and together they conspired to produce something that was both pricey – and tasty.
“It took a few minutes to figure out all the math, but in the end, it took about 55 shots to get us over the $50 (£29.94) line, and we just rounded it up to 60 to make it easy,” he told Consumerist.
“I gotta say, it was delicious.”
However, he did add that he only drank around a third of the beverage upon the first attempt.
It took five days to consume the epic coffee, which is probably for the best considering the amount of caffeine in it…
