A 54-year-old father allegedly killed his wife, also 54, his son’s 48-year-old girlfriend and a 27-year-old man after a row over a washing machine, before his son wrestled the gun off away and shot him, NBC Los Angeles reported.
“It looks like it was a dispute between the dad and the son’s girlfriend, probably over using the washing machine,” Sheriff’s Lt. John Corina told the San Gabriel Valley Tribune. “For some reason, this set the dad off.”
The father was apparently a heavy drinker with a large gun collection and authorities had made several previous trips to the home, according to the New York Daily News.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and pronounced the gunshot victims dead at the scene, according to the news release.
Christopher Morey, 33, is being held on suspicion of murdering his own father, though a sheriff’s spokesman said the charges could change.
Investigators were talking to witnesses to figure out what led to the father pulling out a semi-automatic pistol and opening fire.
