Heartbroken son takes photos of his parents in intensive care after double family tragedy
Chris Minnini and his brother caught their father's final moments on camera as he held his partner's hand

A couple’s final goodbye has been captured on camera by their son, who photographed his parents holding hands as his father’s breathing tube was removed for the last time.
Both of Chris Minnini’s parents were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at Kingston Hospital in Ontario at the start of May, his father had been diagnosed for the third time with lung cancer, while his mother had suffered a heart attack.

The couple had been placed in side-by-side rooms in the ICU, but Mr Minnini’s dying father wished to say a last goodbye to his partner, even though she was sedated at the time.
“It’s the first time in the hospital’s history two patients on life support were brought into the same room to be together,” Mr Minnini said on Reddit.
Chris Minnini’s brother took the pictures, which show his parents holding hands while in ICU, both of them attached to machines.
Mr Minnini’s father passed away peacefully on 4 May, aged 58. His mother is recovering at home.

“Being only 21 myself it's been incredibly hard,” Mr Mininni said, “This story, along with the photos help so much. True love really never dies.”
He said he will remember his parents, “always together, no matter what.”
