A woman from Michigan has been sent to jail after opening fire at a McDonald’s store when her burger was twice served without bacon.

Shaneka Monique Torres, 30, was convicted in March of carrying a concealed weapon and discharging a firearm into a building

The court was told that Torres visited a McDonald's drive-through with a friend on the night of February 10 2014 and ordered bacon cheeseburgers. When the meal arrived with no bacon, she complained o the manager who apologised and offered a free meal.

But when she returned several hours later for her free meal, the cheeseburger was again serve without bacon.

Reports said that at that point she began shouting at the restaurant workers before taking a handgun from her purse and firing at the restaurant building.

She returned several hours later and again received her hamburger without the bacon, at which point she screamed at the restaurant worker and pulled a handgun from her purse, firing a round at the building.

The Associated Press said that Judge Paul Sullivan on Tuesday sentenced her to one to five years for shooting at a building, plus two years for possessing a firearm during a felony.

Torres said she was sorry “but it's over and done with”.

The WZZM television channel said her lawyer claimed the shooting was an accident, and was not about receiving her hamburger without bacon.
